DU decides to hold division-wise admission tests

Staff Correspondent, sukhabor.com: The Dhaka University (DU) authorities decided to curtail admission test marks, hold division-wise tests and not to hold online admission tests for the 2020-2021 academic session.

The decision was taken during a meeting of Deans’ committee presided over by DU Vice-chancellor Prof Md Akhtaruzzaman today.

DU Pro-VC (education) Prof ASM Maksud Kamal said, “We have decided not to go for online admission test and initially decided to hold division-wise tests. In this case, we will set up the exam centres and hold the test upon talking with the authorities of the universities in divisions across the country.”

Prof Maksud said the minimum criteria for applying in different units will remain same and they will fix the dates after the results of HSC is published.

According to the meeting sources, total marks of the admission test has been reduced to 100 from 200.

Of the 100, 20 marks will be given on the basis of results of School Secondary Certificate (SSC) and Higher Secondary Certificate (HSC), and admission tests will be held on the rest 80 marks.

Prof Sadeka Halim, dean of the social science faculty, told that the distribution of the 80 marks has not been decided yet but the authorities will stress more on the written part.
